Install StockLite v7 ROM on Galaxy Ace S5830

The Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 has a lot of custom ROMs available for it on Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich. A lot of them sacrifice performance for looks but there are a few ROMs which are fast and also have a few nice modifications to the stock Android User Interface and apps. StockLite is a good ROM that has a great battery life and amazing performance. This ROM is very fast and also pretty stable. The only down side being that it is as the name suggests "stock". It is a ROM on Gingerbread XWKTM 2.3.6, instead of Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Also a very nice feature is that in app ads are disabled by editing the hosts file of the ROM. Thanks to tj-droid for this ROM.

Screen shots: Looks like Gingerbread! But brings a lot more performance

Features

  1. Super fast and stable
  2. Improved battery life
  3. Battery extended kernel
  4. Screenshot option
  5. Latest Google play
  6. Galaxy note lockscreen
  7. More free space on Internal Memory
  8. Lot more!

The ROM also provides some extra space on your device as it doesn't contain some of the apps that are rarely used. Do not worry, if you need any of the apps removed you can always install them again on your device.

The Following Apps where removed from the ROM by default by the Developer so as to increase the available space also to shrink the size of the ROM.

1) Some widgets
2) Live wallpapers
3) Memo (you can install other better memo apps from market if you want)
4) Thinkfree Office
5) Swype (new and better versions available at beta.swype.com)
6) Samsung apps
7) Email app
8) Protips
9) Unified inbox (Social Hub)

Google Apps are also not a default part of the ROM but you can always download them off Play Store if you need them.

This ROM has been tested by the developer and others before being released. It although does not cause bricking, the possibility does exist and by going through with the installation you are agreeing to face the risks yourself.

Without any further delay let us begin the tutorial on installing the StockLite v7 ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.

  • Once you have the necessary files for the installation you need to check whether your device is all set for the installation. Even though this ROM is quite Stock-like and does really change the version of the operating system you do need to have a rooted device for the installation and after rooting the device you will need to install CWM Recovery on your device. In case you haven't already done it, Root and Install CWM from the link.
  • Now that we have that out of the way. You will need to switch off your phone and reboot into Recovery Mode. Don't Know How? Switch off your phone and press vol up+ home + power button.
  • Now you can navigate in Recovery Mode using the Volume Up and Down keys and select using the Home Button.
  • Make sure to Wipe Data and Cache while you are Recovery. Next navigate to install zip from sd card and select choose zip from sd card. Now just select the file you placed in your SD card in the first step.
  • Just wait for the process to finish. It should roughly take about 10 minutes. Don't freak out about it taking some time and think that your phone is bricked. After the process is done just Reboot.
That's it. Now you have successfully installed the StockLite v7 ROM on your Galaxy Ace. If you have any doubts about the installation or are facing any unexpected errors please hit up the comments below. Check out mods and fixes for this ROM at developer thread
