Install XXDLI2 Android 4.1.1 Official Jelly Bean Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300

The much awaited official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update XXDLI2 is available now for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300. There have been a lot of leaked 4.1.1 firmwares recently for the S3 but now the official firmware is out and this post will help you in installing the same on your device. This is the official firmware for the device and you can install it using ODIN. The setup is quite simple and can be done in a matter of minutes. The firmware is stock and does not root your device. You will have to root it separately. By installing the firmware you will lose root access if you had it before.

The firmware is the official version and not a leak so we can be sure that it works well and does not have any bugs. Of course I do not have the device so I have not really tested Jelly Bean on the Galaxy S3. The update does not really specify any change log or anything so the best way to find out the changes in the firmware is to try it out on your device.

Although it is an official OTA update firmware there are still chances of bricking your phone during the installation process. By going through with the process you are accepting to face the risks and not hold Dead Or Android Liable for any damages sustained to your device.

Sadly I do not have any screenshots to show you guys but the update does not change the UI much.

Without further talk about the device and the update let us get straight into the installation process.

Install Official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update XXDLI2 on Galaxy S3 I9300

  • Make sure you have the basics installed and ready for the update. If you regularly change firmware then you will know the basic requirements for installing a new firmware on your device. Just in case you don't then make sure you have all your important data backed up. Also make sure you have the data connection settings also backed up.
  • You will also need to check whether your drivers are all installed and up to date. In case you are not sure Download the USB Drivers from the link mentioned. Once you have those things ready make sure your phone is having a good amount of charge. One of the worst things that can happen and can really freak you out is the battery dying during the installation. So make sure you have around 90% of charge remaining just to be safe.
  • You will need to be on Android 4.0.4 to apply the update. In case you are already on XXBLG8 then skip the next few steps until the flashing of the Jelly Bean update. In case you don't then flash it onto your device as explained in the next few steps.
  • Download ODIN on your PC and also download the XXBLG8 update for your Galaxy S3. After you download both the files switch off your device and reboot into Download Mode. Don't Know How? Just boot by holding the Power, Volume Down and Home Buttons simultaneously. After confirming entry into download mode Run ODIN on your PC and plug in your S3. One of the boxes in ODIN should turn yellow. Next just click on PDA and select the file you downloaded earlier. Now click start and wait for the process to finish.
  • It should be done in roughly 10 minutes. Next you are ready to flash the Jelly Bean update. Download the XXDLI2 update zip from the link and copy it onto your device SD Card.
  • Switch off the device and now boot into Recovery Mode. You can do so by booting by pressing the Volume Up Home and Power buttons simultaneously. Now just navigate with Volume Keys to apply update from SD card and then select the zip you copied earlier. Now wait for the process to finish and reboot.
That's it. Now you have installed Jelly Bean on your S3. If you have doubts about the installation comment below.
