How to Update Nexus 7 to Android 4.1.2 JZO54K Firmware Official

Nexus 7 was the first ever device from Google to feature Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. Now, after months of release, Google has started to roll out next version of Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 officially. The Android 4.1.2 JZO54K update will bring landscape orientation to the Home screen along with some bug fixes and performance boosts. The Android 4.1.2 version has just started rolling out for Nexus & and we don't have any news about other versions till now. If you did not get Android 4.1.2 JZO54K update notification on your nexus 7, you can get it by trying out the steps given below.

The steps for Rooted and non rooted device are different. Please check your device for root access before proceeding. Remember, the device comes non rooted. We are not responsible for the damage to your device, so proceed with caution.

Requirements


  • This guide is for Nexus 7 Users Only
  • Update to Android 4.1.1 if you are on Android 4.1 now
  • Backup all data
  • Have a good amount of battery charge before proceeding. 

Install Android 4.1.2 JZO54K Firmware on Non Rooted Nexus 7


1. Download Android 4.1.2 JZO54K Firmware and save it in your computer.

2. Rename it to "update.zip" and copy it to the internal memory of your    Nexus 7 and (not into any folders) .

3.  Turn off your Nexus 7 and go to bootloader mode by holding down the power and Vol up buttons till you get into Fastboot menu.

4. Use vol buttons to navigate till you reach the recovery mode. Use Power button to select it. 

5. If you see an exclamation mark (!) hold the vol up and power buttons. 

6. After entering recovery mode, select Install zip from SD card and select update.zip you just downloaded. 

7. Wait for Installation to finish and reboot from recovery.

You have successfully updated nexus 7 to Android 4.1.2

Install Android 4.1.2 JZO54K Firmware on Rooted Nexus 7


If you have rooted your Nexus 7 to enjoy super user features and root apps, then this is the guide for you! 

Before proceeding you have to make sure that a custom recovery like ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) is installed on your tablet. 

  • Turn off your Nexus 7 and go to bootloader mode by holding down the power and Vol up buttons till you get into Fastboot menu
  • Navigate to CWM and select "Flash zip from sd card" using power button.
  • From there select the file you just downloaded and copied to your device. 
  • Finish the installation and then go back to CWM recovery and reboot from recovery!
